Press Release - 911 ETC Announces New E911 Product: SoftLoc

March 15, 2010

911 ETC ANNOUNCES NEW E911 PRODUCT: SOFTLOC

Subtitle: SoftLoc assists/requires users of soft phones to provision their current location to ensure accurate routing of an outgoing 911 call.

Everett, WA: 911 ETC announced today the release of SoftLoc, a new product that requires soft phone users to provision their current location for the purpose of emergency services. SoftLoc runs as a Windows system-tray application and quietly waits for the user to launch a configured soft phone application. Upon launch, SoftLoc will appear above all other applications and remind the user to provision an emergency location. Up to three frequently-used locations can be saved to the remote emergency server and quickly provisioned with just a few mouse clicks. Other locations can be saved locally for quick server updates. If the user chooses not to provision an emergency location, the soft phone application will be forcibly closed.

SoftLoc was developed because of concerns by 911 ETC’s customers that soft phone users will ignore inputting critical location information when they log onto their soft phones. “With SoftLoc users are forced to input their location information – the corporation has the ability to disable the phone until this is done,” stated Mike Anderson, National Sales Manager of 911 ETC. “We had customers concerned about the liability issue soft phones created without any sort of requirement in place to update location information. With SoftLoc, the responsibility of provisioning the phone is put back upon the user and accurate location information is ensured in the event of an emergency.”

911 ETC Features Hybrid E-911 Solution at VoiceCon 2008

911 ETC, Inc. will feature a hybrid E-911 solution for TDM and VoIP in booth #214 at VoiceCon's Fall 2008 conference, to be held November 10-13 in San Francisco.

The necessity for an E-911 solution for VoIP often carries with it the need to also address E-911 for an existing multi-line telephone system (MLTS). In many states, legislation for enhanced 911 has been enacted or is pending. An option that provides a cost-effective and simple-to-implement answer is a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution. 911 ETC's SaaS solution is ideal for businesses finding themselves in the beginning stages of transitioning from a traditional multi-line telephone system over to VoIP.
The hybrid SaaS alternative makes it possible to move forward with changes in the telecom network while continuing to maintain accurate enhanced 911 information, and enables 911 ETC to interface with virtually any administration platform in existence regarding E-911 for MLTS. Expertise in the industry and strategic VoIP partnerships allow for the recommendation of the best solution, implementation of that plan, and then ongoing maintenance of the E-911 database for the customer regardless of system updates or advancing technology. Other needs that may arise regarding 911 are also addressed, such as onsite notification or call monitoring capabilities. 911 ETC operates as a single-point 911 solution provider for its clients, and has provided numerous hybrid E-911 SaaS solutions for the largest of facilities down to the smallest office suite.

E911 SERVICE FOR VOIP OFFERED BY 911 ETC, INC.

911 ETC, Inc. announces V-911™ Connect, which tracks the location of IP phones and routes 911 calls to the public safety answering point. The solution provides an organization with an efficient and cost-effective way to manage its E-911 database, whether VoIP or Hybrid PBX/VoIP. The service can track the location of IP phones both inside and outside of the organization.

When a 911 call is placed, the enterprise call server routes the call with the location of caller to the public safety answering point. Rather than utilizing a trunk, the solution uses an organization’s wide area network to deliver 911 calls. The service works with any type of phone that is included on the enterprise IP network, to include digital, analog, IP hardphones, softphones, and SIP phones. 911 ETC offers the additional option of onsite emergency notification for large organizations that also operate an internal public safety point. Billing is monthly and is based on the number of phones utilizing the service.

The 911 Modernization and Public Safety Act of 2007 is a bill being considered by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The bill would ensure that people using VoIP are able to reach 911 operators, and would require the same liability protections that other telecommunications providers have to VoIP providers.
